Pile Integrity Evaluation.
Overview.
To develop a structural pile integrity evaluation system. We altered the existing system that our clients were using by improving the user experience and reducing the overall cost by limiting the number of features.
Challenge.
The existing system was costly and impractical, and required lots of manual work by the user. One of the main challenges was to make the hardware affordable to produce and easy to use.
Project details.
By utilizing an Android device as the data hub of the site hardware, we were able to significantly reduce the overall costs. Combined with custom wireless sensors to measure the impact force of the test hammer and the pile head’s vibration response, we were able to compare measured data with reference data computed for that exact pile. The platform we developed then automatically determined the acoustic status of the pile, labelling it as sound or flagging it for manual review.
